Just few days ago a new addition to Google’s expanding variety of data tool was launched. It is none other than the Google Correlate. Since this feature is just few days old, many are still unaware of the true importance and use of this tool.

So we ask, What is Google Correlate?

Google Correlate is simply Google Trends in reverse. If Google Trends present series of data and information regarding user’s entered search term, it works the other way around in Correlate. Google Correlate enables users to upload data patterns which will then provide series of search queries which matches the uploaded data pattern. It will search keywords which has the same patterns or relationship with the entered term.

 

For example: If a user draws a line or uploads a graph showing the number of people searching for the term “Prince William”, Google Correlate will look for search terms with the same number of web visits. It may show results like “Princess Diana “or even “Saddam Hussein “just because these keywords have identical traffic pattern with “Prince William”.

 

Google Correlate lets a user link a real-world situation and sees which search queries matches the activity. It also allows geographical and time correlation among data and search terms.

 

This new innovation of Google opens a lot of possibilities to the present web industry. One way or another will affect the web behaviour especially the SEO industry. Unlike previous tools it doesn’t provide piles of charts, statistics, numbers and graphs but an important list of related queries. Correlate also paved way to a new way to research keywords popularity and trends, and for forecasting and sales marketing.

  4. SERP’s in mobile search may prioritize videos and images before the regular results.


  5. Smartphone owner usually have their mail accounts logged in, which can affects search results. From this it can be implied that most of the time personalized results will be shown in mobile searches.


  6. Website’s design and structure must be reviewed for technical issues with regards to becoming a mobile-friendly site. Higher bounce rate and low Click-through-rate (CTR) can be expected if site’s construction doesn’t go well in mobile phones. Users won’t be patient enough to settle for a messy-looking website. There is also an option which can block forms and be modified by Google Transcoder.


  7. Filter choices also differs that’s why optimization of websites with more filter choices is better. On the other hand, brands are not yet recognized in mobile search which indicates that branded keywords in mobile search are not yet necessary.

These are just few differences mobile results have with desktop results. However, Google love innovations which mean changes, major changes. Google aims for better user experience, as SEO specialist or webmasters one must also aims the same. Adjustments must also be made to fit growing mobile web usage because we don’t know, we might just wake up one day with mobile phones as computers and desktops better fit junk shops.

Google is always been fond of experimenting and trying something new. One of its newest fresh from the lab feature is the infamous Google + 1 button.

 

Google is known not just as the major Search Engine nowadays but also by being a user friendly Search Engine. It makes a lot of changes to provide better search experience for web users. And now it still pushes through with its personalized search by means of the Google + 1.

 

Google +1 is just like the continuation of the not so celebrated Social Search.  With Google +1 results from the traditional SERP plus those +1ing by your friends will also be shown. It is like the Facebook Like button wherein you can add a vote or rate a certain post (webpage in terms of +1) and share this to your friends.

How does error 404 affects my site?

Page Not Found or Error 404 is displayed when certain URL’s or web addresses can’t be accessed by the server. This either means that the content has been removed or it really doesn’t exist. Search Engines take 404s as common objects in the web. It is very natural for web pages to die since fresh contents and newer trends are being born each minute. Even them have crawl errors or 404s.

 

Error 404 doesn’t affect search rankings directly. However, a proper 404 response must be presented so that spiders will be able to crawl it and be informed that the specific webpage has already expired. Although, 404 don’t affect rankings, it can still be harmful to one’s site. Too much 404 can be harmful when it comes to site’s traffic, reputation and negative indexing effects.

 

As website owners, if you removed one of your pages, it is necessary to provide a correct 404 HTTP response informing users to proper URLs or better yet do 301 directing to related pages or your homepage to preserve traffic. 404s may decrease credibility since web users may find them too annoying. This may lead to an increase in bounce rate. Good 404 messages don’t mean right 404 HTTP responses. You should check with known tools identifying if your message has been crawled by the spider. If not this may affect greater web visibility.

 

Every web error must be resolved and proper actions must be taken in order to fully optimize every opportunity available. Some black hat SEO or other competitors may build non-existing links to your domain. Issues like these must be reported in order to prevent further damages.

 

A couple or few 404s are okay but too much is too many.
